Hello hello!
This time of year usually makes me feel like I’m running on hyper speed–it’s the busiest time at the studio (everyone wants a holiday season facial) and the madness that is Black Friday/Cyber Week gets madder (and starts earlier) every year. But recently I’ve been feeling a different type of crazed and I think it’s because I can finally think more than a few weeks ahead.
My transition into being fully freelance coincided with getting engaged and subsequently, married. For over 2 years, I was simultaneously figuring out how to be my own boss and how to plan a wedding. During this time, my visions for both became clearer and more exciting, but I often had to prioritize my nuptials. In 2024, my goal for this newsletter was simply to be consistent. As with skin, consistency is the key to any substantial change. I put more involved ideas on the back burner and focused on getting the writing out.
Like it always does, consistency paid off. I’m extremely proud (and frankly, shocked) that I published 46 posts this year–more than any other year since I began writing Hotline Skin in 2017. And now that my wedding is over and I’m back from my honeymoon, I can start to think beyond the weekly post. My consistency set up a solid foundation and I’m ready to build. The overwhelming feeling I’m experiencing is fueled by excitement and anticipation! But it requires focus, which is hard enough this time of year so there won’t be new posts for the next 3 weeks. Becoming overwhelmed is the easiest way to lose consistency.
Excitement and overwhelm is a familiar combo and one I often see with my clients when it comes to building a skincare routine. Excited by the possibility, but too overwhelmed to start. Buying tons of new products that sit unopened under your sink. Going from empowered with knowledge to confused beyond belief with 27 open tabs from r/skincareaddiction. It doesn’t have to be this way. 2025 can be your Year of Consistency. For 2 of you, I’ll take it upon myself to help you get there and allow everyone else to follow along.
Year of Consistency with Hotline Skin
Two subscribers will receive free consults and work with me virtually for the entire year! Together, we’ll build a sustainable skincare routine and document the process and your progress for the Hotline Skin community. I’ll publish recaps of our consults, walk through my reasoning for recommendations, elaborate on advice and more. Here’s more info:
Starting in January, we’ll have quarterly check-ins on Zoom to discuss progress and make any tweaks.
Prior to the first call, you’ll be sent a questionnaire to fill out. We’ll spend January identifying goals and products. We’ll align on your budget, go through what you already have and what’s missing. All of my recommendations will be considerate of your budget and you won’t necessarily need to buy a ton of new products, but you must be willing to, if necessary. (This is the only financial component! All of my services will be free.)
In addition to our quarterly calls, you’ll need to provide written feedback and progress photos. Nothing crazy, I’ll walk you through it!
You must be comfortable with me sharing the feedback and photos in Hotline Skin. Depending on what we're focusing on, it may be an option to black out your eyes, but no guarantees. I promise I’m not out here to embarrass anyone on the Internet.
You must be comfortable with me sharing information about your skin type, concerns, goals etc. Again, not here to embarrass anyone or disclose deeply personal details.
You must be willing to follow my guidance. This is supposed to be fun and educational for you, me, and everyone reading. It won’t work if you’re resistant to my advice or making some changes.
This opportunity will be primarily focused on products and routines for home care. While we may touch on professional treatments and services, that is not what these consults are intended for.
Click the button below to apply! Applications close Sunday, December 22nd at 11:59pm EST. If selected for the opportunity, I’ll contact you via email by January 3rd. Apologies in advance if I don’t pick you, I wish I could take you all on as my clients! But lieu of that, my sincere hope is that you’ll be able to use this feature as a resource for your own routine and follow along on your own year of consistency.
Talk soon!
xx,
Jolie
