Hello!
Today I’m delighted to share with you my top products of 2022. They are not in any order because how could I possibly rank all of these superstars? These are the products that wow-ed me. The ones that exceeded expectations, used interesting ingredients or transformed some aspect of my routine. They’re the products I keep coming back to and won’t stop talking about. You probably won’t even be surprised by any of them because I would never keep such good things a secret. Neither should you! If you had a favorite product this year, I’d love to hear about it in the comments.
Thank you so much for subscribing to Hotline Skin this year. Your support and encouragement have been incredible and I can’t wait for everything to come in 2023. Have a happy, healthy holiday!

My Top Products of 2022
Ouai Detox Shampoo + K18
Incredible alone, outstanding together. You may remember one of my 2022 goals was to get better at taking care of my hair. Most of that success comes from these 2 products, which I use together twice a month. Here’s a quick tutorial, but read the full instructions for both of these products. Especially the K18. Massage the Detox Shampoo onto your scalp, get it nice and lather-y and give it a few minutes to get to work before rinsing. Don’t condition! Towel dry your hair to about 80% then apply K18 pump by pump until your entire head is coated (my thick, long hair needs about 4 pumps total). Give it 4 minutes (I wait at least 10) and you’ll watch your hair magically detangle and transform. From there, you can proceed with your hair routine as usual, or just let it be.
NatureLab. Tokyo Perfect Repair Leave In Treatment
Another product that has helped me reach my 2022 hair goals. It’s like a leave-in conditioner, but instead of a cream, it’s a lightweight foam. It helps to soften, strengthen and tame frizz. I’ve gotten feedback from people of all hair types who have said this worked wonders on their hair, making me confident it’s a good choice for pretty much anyone with hair. As the last step on hair wash day, I split my hair in two and apply one pump to each side.
Experiment Avant Garde + Super Saturated Serum
Yes, this again. It takes a lot to impress me. It takes even more to impress me with a hydrating serum. This 30% glycerin serum is unlike anything I’ve tried before. At 30% concentration, glycerin not only provides intense hydration, but helps to strengthen your skin barrier and soothe irritation. You can use a pump as your hydrating serum before moisturizer, but I strongly recommend you take the mask approach: 3 pumps on damp skin underneath the green silicone reusable mask for 10-15 minutes. Your skin will be hydrated, plump, calm and ready for makeup (or not). Use JOLIE10 for 10% off.
Makeup by Mario Skin Enhancer
And yes, this again, too. I’ve tried explaining this product so many times, but enhancer is really just the best way to describe its magic. Depending on how and where you place the very sheer, very buildable product, it can be a skin tint, bronzer or contour. Regardless of how you use it, it will warm up and bring life to your complexion. As everyone I’ve convinced to try it agrees, it’s foolproof. Even if you have no idea how to do makeup, it’s nearly impossible to mess up. Use a blending brush for more definition or a stipple brush for a more diffused look. Use both. Play around with it. Watch Mario’s tutorial on Sephora’s website and follow that example the first time you try it. From there, you’ll quickly be able to adapt to your liking.
Sachi Skin everything
It’s my list, so I can do what I want! And what I want is to name all of Sachi’s products on my best of 2022 list. I started using the brand late last year and don’t think I’ve gone one day since without using at least one of Sachi’s products. I’ve been blown away by the textures, the ingredients, the experience, the results, just everything. Their newest release, the Pro-Resilience Serum, is a rockstar reparative, hydrating and barrier strengthening serum that feels like water. You can use it morning and night. You can even use it under your LED mask. They only sell 4 products right now and everyone can use both serums (Triphala can take the place of your vitamin C, or use in addition!) Their two nighttime treatment products are fantastic, if you have concerns that fit. I use the Complexion Clarifying Accelerator twice a week to help with acne, pores and hyperpigmentation. You can use JOLDEF15 for 15% off, sets excluded.
Naturium Glow Getter Multi-Oil Hydrating Body Wash
I’ve never had a preferred body wash, which is shocking if you know anything about me. There are plenty I like, but I usually just use what I have or is sent to me. This is now my preferred body wash. It smells like heaven, feels like silk and comes in a very generously sized pump for only $16.
Ole Henriksen Banana Bright+ Eye Crème
When beloved products get reformulated, it usually is disappointing. When this beloved product got reformulated, it improved beyond my wildest dreams. The slight orange tint helps to immediately counteract blue/purple dark circles, while the added ingredients help actually brighten overtime. You can use it alone or under concealer.
NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Lipid 1%
As you’ve likely heard me say before, you need many degrees that I don’t have to fully understand how NIOD’s products work, but that is kind of the appeal. NIOD is owned by Deciem, the parent company of The Ordinary. The best way I’ve heard the difference described is that The Ordinary uses tried & true ingredients in bare bones formulas and NIOD uses the tried & true ingredients, plus the cutting-edge ingredients, plus the ones they just invented in their lab. They’re at the forefront of skincare technology and one of my favorite brands for that reason. This product isn’t new, or even new to me, but it took on a new role in my routine this year and deserves to be recognized. It helps maintain and promote healthy “youthful” skin primarily via copper peptides, which, among many things, address signs of aging, reduce inflammation and strengthen the skin. It’s the perfect complement to my prescription retinoid. I started using it 2-3 times a week on my repair nights (no retinoid, no acids) and have noticed a tremendous improvement in the quality of my skin and its ability to tolerate said retinoids and acids. It’s a gel-oil texture that goes on towards the end of your routine, but if you prefer something watery that sinks in, try the serum version.
